Packs
When determining if you will need to undergo a verification or certification audit you will need to determine:
- What are your current qualifications
- Are you in the process of completing any qualifications that you will want to use to provide supports
- What sort of support are you wanting to provide as a NDIS Registered Provider (e.g., Taking clients out to appointments, running therapy groups, community nursing care etc).
Please refer to our Audit Pathway in our NDIS Registration Handbook which is available for download on our website for guidance around what registration group falls in to either a verification or certification audit. For more information about what pack would best suit your needs, please contact us today.

Audit
When registering to provide services under the NDIS, you will be required to undergo either a Verification or Certification audit depending on which supports and services you intend to provide. NDIS
Registration Groups are categorised by the types of supports and services being delivered by the NDIS provider to their participants. NDIS Providers delivering lower risk/lower complexity supports and services will need to undergo a Verification audit, while providers delivering more complex or higher risk supports and services will need to undergo a Certification audit.
Submitting an NDIS provider registration application is free. However, you will be responsible for the cost of procuring an audit against the applicable NDIS Practice Standards. The requirements of the audit, including its cost, will be proportionate to your organisation’s size and scale, and the complexity of the services and supports you provide.
After submitting your application, you will receive an Initial Scope of Audit document from the NDIS Commission, which summarises the registration requirements that apply to your organisation and describes the form your audit will take.
As part of the NDIS online application process, you are required to assess yourself against the NDIS Quality Indicators that are relevant to the Registration Groups (types of support) that you have selected in your application. What this involves is providing a 2000 character response to each quality indicator question which must outline how you currently meet this requirement.
Understandably, this will add a level of complexity to your application process particularly if you are seeking certification as this will require a minimum of 25 2000 character responses to cover just the core Quality Indicators. If you are wishing to provide other high risk supports (e.g., Specialist Behaviour Support, Specialist Disability Accommodation Support etc) you will also be required to provide additional responses for each additional quality indicator.
Provider One's Done For You Verification and Certification packages will provide you with complete answers for each self-assessment question for each Registration Group you are applying for and we will also submit this along with your application on your behalf.
Usually, providers requiring a verification quality audit deliver lower risk/lower complexity supports and services that do not involve direct client care such as cleaning services, lawn mowing services or tradesman. A verification audit can also apply to prospective providers who are already subject to professional regulation as a requirement of working within their trade (e.g Registered Nurses through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)).
Professional regulation means a practitioner must already meet set standards and is subject to ongoing monitoring of their competency to practice, including through continuing professional development.
Because of the existing obligations of these providers to their relevant professional bodies, and the less complex support types delivered, the provider will engage an approved quality auditor to complete a desktop review of the required documentary evidence outlined for each profession in the Verification Module.
Providers must show evidence of:
- relevant qualifications;
- expertise and experience;
- incident management processes/policies;
- complaints management processes/policies; and
- risk management processes/policies.
As the NDIS market develops, the NDIS Commission will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these profession-specific regulatory frameworks to meet the NDIS Commission’s requirements in relation to safe, quality services for NDIS participants.
Providers requiring a certification audit provide more complex or higher risk supports and services that involve direct client contact. In a certification audit, providers are assessed against the NDIS Practice Standards which may include assessment against the core module and any supplementary module relevant to the type of support they deliver. The registration requirements outline the compliance requirements for the core and supplementary modules by registration group.
Assessment includes core capabilities, such as:
- Risk management;
- Delivery of supports;
- The delivery environment; and
- Governance and operational management
NDIS providers that deliver services and supports within the High Intensity Daily Personal Activities registration group will be assessed against the High Intensity Skills Descriptors.
The provider will engage an approved quality auditor to complete the certification audit. This will include document reviews, site visits and interviews with NDIS workers and participants.approved quality auditor
